Since we were established in March 1982 our aim according to our statutes has been the promotion of international understanding and friendship, in the belief that the use of the English Language offers an important contribution in this context. The ESU in Bavaria pursues this aim through activities under the general headings of "education", "culture"" and "current affairs".

Our regular events include:

  • Lectures or informal talks given by well-known personalities in business and other fields as well as our own members. Topics cover a very wide range, e.g. computing and the Internet, travel and expeditions to foreign countries, as well as topics of general interest;

  • Discussions on political business and finance matters

  • Meeting together on a regular basis for a "Stammtisch" every second Wednesday in the month.

By tradition we try to arrange.

  • A Summer Garden Party at a member's home

  • A Christmas Dinner Party at a specially-chosen restaurant

Other activities:

  • We keep in touch with the Consulates of the English-speaking countries based in Munich and the British Council

  • We organize exchange visits to other ESU's worldwide

  • Our members are welcome to attend conferences organized by the ESU in London, including a triennial World Members' Conference in different countries around the world.
